I’m new to the whisky scene & slightly regret I didn’t take whiskey more seriously before however that’s ok because I’m on a journey…I’ve discovered you don’t have to love all whiskeys or pretend you even know anything about them at all! In fact I’m enjoying the journey learning, tasting & having fun exploring the world of whisky!
Very grateful to spend the night with Tomintoul at their gorgeous estate formerly Bob Dylan’s old estate! We were treated to a full distillery tour with production manger Rob Nicholson!
Followed by a Whiskey tasting session with master blender ‘Scotch Voyager’ I have to say I learned so much & a firm favourite of mine had to be Tomintoul’s Cigar malt - The rich & sweet sherry notes, creamy malt profile & gentle peat smoke make this single malt the perfect accompaniment to the world’s finest cigars.
Another one of my favourites had to be the 25 year old blend - Tomintoul 25 Years Old has been matured in the finest bourbon barrels, the end result is a bold, rich & fruity whisky with a long finish. An exceptional single malt, which was awarded Best Scotch Whisky at The Global Spirits Masters 2020.
After whiskey tasting we retuned back to the stunning Tomintoul Estate for a gorgeous whisky themed dinner!
The next morning we explored the estate & made time for some impromptu foraging the next morning, stay tuned because I whisked up a crumble with the fruits of my labour!
I just want to say a huge thanks to the whole whisky team for hosting & making us feel special & finally a toast to everyone involved in kick starting my whisky journey!
